Pre-Season / End of Season Poll Comparison AP

Let's kick it off with the 2nd most important poll of the year! Seriously what's the point of preseason polls? As you can see they really missed out on Texas,Michigan,Florida,Wisconsin,Louisville,Ohio State apparently and many others including the Dawgs at #12. While having the pre-season polls does help delusional fan bases such as the Gamecock Nation and other similiar programs, it does nothing to help say a Hawaii team at pre-season #23. Louisville wouldn't have appeared in any polls this season if it hadn't been for this one. JUST SAY NO TO PRE-SEASON POLLS! Release the first one Oct 1st and go from there.

Plus One

The plus one system is already being talked about as a change for the 2008 season. And while I am all for perfecting the current system one way or another, we shouldn't touch the current system until all of the following happen first:

1. MAKE NOTRE DUMB JOIN A CONFERENCE.

2. MAKE THE PAC-10, BIG-10, AND BIG-EAST PLAY AN END OF YEAR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP.

3. NO PRE-SEASON RANKINGS, THE FIRST POLL SHALL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL OCT 1ST.

4. CREATE RULE THAT CONFERENCE CHAMPS ONLY MAY PLAY IN THE MNC.

5. REMOVE HAL MUMME FROM THE COACHES POLL. VOTED HAWAII #1 AND UGA #9 LAST WEEK.

6. PUT THE REMAINING INDEPENDENTS NAVY,ARMY,WEST KY IN A CONFERENCE.

7. REMOVE LOU HOLTZ AND MARK MAY FROM THE ESPN SET,INSERT JIM DONNAN AND FINEBAUM.

8. RENAME PAPA JOHN'S CARDINAL STADIUM "THE PIZZA PALACE".

9. EXILE TERRANCE MOORE (AJC) TO SIBERIA WITH A TYPEWRITER AND A HOMING PIGEON.

10. REMIND MR.INFLUENTIAL HERBIE OF THE VIDEO BELOW.

Buckeyes better get Comfortable........

Because it is going to be a long, long night as LSU rocks your world to sleep in the MNC Title game, I figure you deserve to at least be comfortable in your favorite chair. Too bad for the Buckeyes that Notre Dame wasn't sitting there in 4th where UGA was a week ago. That would of certainly meant there would have been a Beano Cook sighting touting the greatest MNC matchup since its inception! But your not that lucky children of the north, your destiny is before you. Let's not forget that The Ohio State University is a tremendous 0-8 vs SEC opponents all time in bowl games, ouch! But hey on the flip side of that coin you are a combined 6-1 against Vandy and Kentucky.

So do us a favor, get a chair like the one above, and then put your kids to bed early that night so that they too do not have to witness the slaughter of the Poisonous Nuts from the mauling of the Tigers. Enjoy the halftime show.... MEOW!

The 2007 MNC WTF Happened Award

Coming into the 2007 season, the Louisville Cardinal faithful were expecting great things despite the change at head coach. Enter one each Steve Kragthorpe. The Cards were ranked 10th in the AP Preseason polls, sandwiched between #9 Virginia Tech and #11 Ohio State. The season started out rather convincingly and no one batted an eyebrow, as they rolled Murray State 73-10. As matter of fact most L'ville outsiders across the country were thinking to themselves, it would come down to the West Virginia and Rutgers games. Louisville looked as if though they hadn't lost a step from Bobby P's coached Cards. But the following week something very strange happened, MTSU rolled up over 550 yards of total offense in a 58-42 loss to the Cards. Sure MTSU has been known to be a thorn in the side of teams from time to time, but 550+ yards? The following 2 weeks would set the tone for the 07 campaign as Louisville went on to lose to UK and Syracuse, giving up 925 all purpose yards and 78 points. Yes Louisville had nice wins, and also some very close losses. But this is a team that scored 421 points while allowing 377, your not gonna get very far doin that. So we salute you Steve Kragthorpe winner of the MNC 2007 WTF Happened Award!

Aloha and Mahalo Rainbow Warriors

Hawaii and Georgia, ummmm well shit. Georgia really got hosed, Les Miles said if you look at the body of work he feels his team deserved it. The body of work huh Les? You mean the body of work that included losing to an unranked Arkansas 1 week ago? Or losing to a 7-5 Kentucky team? Maybe you mean being givin 2 gifts from Erik Ainge in the SEC Title game? Miles you are a liar. Before the week is over you will be announced as the Michigan Head Coach, you dodged Jeanie Zelasko's question tonight with a delayed change of subject reply.

As for Hawaii, I have alot of respect for June Jones. Mark Richt and June Jones are both outstanding and upstanding human beings. As for the game well it will be a tilt.Over/Under oughtta be in the 80-85 ballpark. Hawaii won't be able to stop the Georgia running game, and Georgia won't be able to stop the Hawaii passing attack. The difference in this game will be Georgia getting pressure on Colt Brennan with only 5 in the box, and UGA's running game keeping the Hawaii offense off the field thru ball control.

And Barry Switzer you can take that little snide comment you made thier at the end of the show about Georgia better just get ready for Hawaii and quit worrying about where they should have been, and stick it where the sun don't shine. Besides, just how much did you and Jimmy have to drink backstage before the show anyway?

Flash Forward

The talking heads at ESPN crowning LSU #2. It makes me sick just sick that this is happening. The whole fiasco of LSU a team that was ranked #7 last week, that has lost twice as the #1 team already, had totally regressed and looked completely and utterly beatable, and pathetic, that needed an INT for a TD to beat Tennessee, is going to play for the title. and speaking of National Title how in the hell does Ohio State get to go and UGA doesnt? Kent,Akron, Youngstown State need I say more?

Flashback

This little snippet in time is brought to you courtesy of CBS Sports. We shall use this opening post as the basis for the madness that has followed it. Listen closely as Tim "Beam" Brando and Spencer Tillman explain how the BCS is shaping up the day prior to the first week of the 2007 BCS. Excuse me while I go outside and vomit.
